Matis' Lepanthes is a cold growing orchid belonging to the sub family Epidendroideae. It is named after the Francisco Xavier Matís Mahecha, artist of Real Expedición Botánica del Nuevo Reino de Granada, 1783-1816, who first illustrated this species.
