The Choco' Lockhartia is a sympodial hot growing orchid belonging to the sub family Epidendroideae native to Colombia and Ecuador. It is named after the An area of NW Pacific coastal Colombia.

Plant Description

Sympodial. Grows to 25cm. Each new growth has numerous erect leaves. Pseudobulbs grow to 25cm

Climate

Grows at low to high elevations. Rainfall ranges from 97mm to 330mm per day, heaviest in September and lightest in January. Temperature ranges from 19C to 26C, highest in July (20C to 26C) and lowest in October (19C to 24C).

Watering

These orchids prefer a wet-dry cycle between waterings, they should be watered frequently but only when the moisture is approaching dryness, where the pot feels light and/or the media looks dry. Keep an eye on mounted orchids in warm weather as they may dehydrate quickly.
