The Reddish Macradenia is a sympodial warm to hot growing orchid belonging to the sub family Epidendroideae native to Brazil.
Plant Description
Sympodial. Grows to 21cm. Each new growth has numerous leathery lance shaped, oblong shaped leaves that grow to 2-15cm long. Pseudobulbs grow to 0.6-6cm
Climate
Grows at low elevations. Rainfall ranges from 38mm to 335mm per day, heaviest in September and lightest in March. Humidity ranges from 76% to 90%, highest in November and lowest in April. Temperature ranges from 22C to 33C, highest in March (23C to 33C) and lowest in January (22C to 29C).
Watering
These orchids prefer a wet-dry cycle between waterings, they should be watered frequently but only when the moisture is approaching dryness, where the pot feels light and/or the media looks dry. Keep an eye on mounted orchids in warm weather as they may dehydrate quickly.
Fertiliser
Reduce fertiliser when plant is dormant.
