Notylia durandiana is a sympodial warm growing orchid belonging to the sub family Epidendroideae native to Brazil.
Plant Description
Sympodial. Grows to 10cm. Each new growth has a single leathery rigid, elliptic, oblong shaped leaf that grows to 0.5-9cm long. Pseudobulbs grow to 0.4-2.5cm
Climate
Grows at low elevations. Rainfall ranges from 38mm to 335mm per day, heaviest in September and lightest in March. Humidity ranges from 76% to 90%, highest in November and lowest in April. Temperature ranges from 20C to 31C, highest in March (21C to 31C) and lowest in January (20C to 28C).
Watering
These orchids prefer a wet-dry cycle between waterings, they should be watered frequently but only when the moisture is approaching dryness, where the pot feels light and/or the media looks dry. Keep an eye on mounted orchids in warm weather as they may dehydrate quickly.
Fertiliser
Reduce fertiliser when plant is dormant.
