General Information
The Pirara Oncidium is a sympodial warm to hot growing orchid belonging to the sub family Epidendroideae native to Guyana and Brazil. It is named after a town in Sao Paulo State of Brazil.
Plant Description
Sympodial. Grows to 8cm. Each new growth has a single leathery erect, rigid, lance shaped, oblong shaped leaf that grows to 1-6cm long. Pseudobulbs grow to 1-2.5cm

Climate
Grows at low to high elevations. Rainfall ranges from 30mm to 376mm per day, heaviest in July and lightest in January. Humidity ranges from 64% to 78%, highest in July and lowest in January. Temperature ranges from 20C to 31C, highest in October (22C to 31C) and lowest in January (20C to 28C).
Watering
These orchids prefer a wet-dry cycle between waterings, they should be watered frequently but only when the moisture is approaching dryness, where the pot feels light and/or the media looks dry. Keep an eye on mounted orchids in warm weather as they may dehydrate quickly.
