Schunk's Oncidium is a sympodial cool to warm growing orchid belonging to the sub family Epidendroideae native to Brazil. It is named after the Brazilian Discoverer of species.
Plant Description
Sympodial. Each new growth has numerous oblong shaped leaves that grow to 1.5-8cm long. Pseudobulbs grow to 2.5cm
Climate
Grows at low to high elevations. Rainfall ranges from 28mm to 201mm per day, heaviest in June and lightest in February. Humidity ranges from 80% to 84%, highest in September and lowest in January. Temperature ranges from 11C to 27C, highest in July (18C to 27C) and lowest in January (11C to 22C).
Watering
These orchids prefer a wet-dry cycle between waterings, they should be watered frequently but only when the moisture is approaching dryness, where the pot feels light and/or the media looks dry. Keep an eye on mounted orchids in warm weather as they may dehydrate quickly.
