Dalstrom's Pachyphyllum is a monopodial orchid belonging to the sub family Epidendroideae native to Ecuador. It is named after the Swedish Orchid Illustrator and Collector.
Plant Description
Monopodial. Grows to 15-35cm. Each new growth has numerous oblong shaped leaves that grow to 0.3-3cm long
Climate
Grows at high elevations. Rainfall ranges from 3mm to 53mm per day, heaviest in October and lightest in March. Temperature ranges from 9C to 23C, highest in June (11C to 23C) and lowest in May (9C to 21C).
Watering
These orchids prefer a wet-dry cycle between waterings, they should be watered frequently but only when the moisture is approaching dryness, where the pot feels light and/or the media looks dry. Keep an eye on mounted orchids in warm weather as they may dehydrate quickly.
