The Large Scaphyglottis is a cool to warm growing orchid belonging to the sub family Epidendroideae native to Panama and Costa Rica. The name refers to the plant and flowers size.

Grows to 45-100cm. Each new growth has numerous leathery lance shaped leaves that grow to 0.3-17cm long. Pseudobulbs grow to 0.2-40cm
