Otto Beyrodt's Scelochilus is a sympodial cool to warm growing orchid belonging to the sub family Epidendroideae native to Colombia. It is named after the Director Berlin Botanic Garden in the 19th century.

Plant Description

Sympodial. Grows to 17cm. Each new growth has a single leathery elliptic, lance shaped, oblong shaped leaf that grows to 4-14cm long. Pseudobulbs grow to 1.5-3cm

Climate

Grows at high elevations. Rainfall ranges from 10mm to 109mm per day, heaviest in July and lightest in February. Humidity ranges from 73% to 83%, highest in November and lowest in March. Temperature ranges from 7C to 21C, highest in April (10C to 21C) and lowest in January (7C to 17C).
